Rice Husk Particle Board Introduction

Rice husk particleboard is an environmentally friendly board made by mixing agricultural waste (rice husks) with wood shavings, which combines the advantages of resource reuse and functionality.

The production process of rice husk particleboard combines traditional particleboard technology with rice husk pretreatment technology. The core lies in the rational utilization of rice husks to ensure the performance of the board.

Rice Husk Particle Board Production Process

1. Raw material preparation
- Rice husk processing

 Cleaning: Remove dust and impurities.

 Drying: The moisture content should be controlled at 8% to 12% (excessive moisture will affect gluing).

 Crushing: The rice husks are crushed into 3-5mm particles by a hammer crusher to prevent overly long fibers from affecting uniformity.

- Preparation of wood shavings

Wood chipping → chipping machine processing → screening (removing overly large or overly fine particles)

2. Mixing of raw materials
The ratio of rice husks to wood shavings is usually 3:7 to 4:6 (too many rice husks will reduce the strength).

Gluing

Adhesive selection: Commonly used are urea-formaldehyde resin adhesives (UF) or eco-friendly MDI adhesives (formaldehyde-free).

Glue amount control: Apply 8% to 12% glue (the surface of the rice husk is hydrophobic, so the glue amount needs to be appropriately increased).

Additives: Water repellents (such as paraffin), flame retardants, etc. can be added

3. Paving and shaping
Layered paving

Surface layer: Fine particle mixture (ensure a smooth surface).

Core layer: Coarse-grained mixture (enhancing structural strength).

Air flow paving or mechanical paving: Ensure uniform thickness and density deviation ≤5%

4. Hot-press curing
Pre-pressing: Initial compaction at low temperature (70~90℃) to reduce the impact of exhaust during hot pressing.

Hot pressing

Temperature: 160-180℃ (for UF glue) or 120-150℃ (for MDI glue).

Pressure: 2.5-3.5 MPa.

Time: 0.4 to 0.6 minutes per mm thickness (for example, it takes 7 to 11 minutes for an 18mm plate).

Exhaust control: Staged pressure reduction to prevent "bubbling".

5. Post-processing
Cooling: After the plate is taken out, it should be vertically cooled to below 40℃ to prevent deformation.

Trimming: Remove the burrs to ensure dimensional accuracy.

Sanding: Double-sided sanding (180-240 mesh), thickness tolerance ±0.2mm.

Quality inspection: Test density (usually 0.6-0.8g/cm³), static bending strength (≥15MPa), and formaldehyde emission (E1 grade ≤0.124mg/m³)

6. Optional deep processing
Veneer: Decorative layers such as melamine impregnated paper and PVC film.

Edge banding: Finished boards used in furniture manufacturing
