MDF production line

Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) is manufactured through an automated production line that involves several key stages, from raw material preparation to final finishing. 

MDF production line will be different as different clients requires and conditions, for example, the raw materials can be different, the glue types, required thickness, size, capacity and so on, as these specific conditions, our team can make a suitable solution for you to start make MDF board.

One complete MDF production line mainly contain Drum chipper, Ring flaker, Digester, Refiner, Dryer, Slab forming line, Continuous pre-press, Continuous press, Synchronous cutting saw, Belt conveyors, Edge trimming machine line, Sanding machine, and related kinds of small parts.

MDF(Medium Density Fiberboard) Introduction

MDF panel introduction

MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is an engineered wood product made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibers, combining them with wax and resin binders, and forming panels under high temperature and pressure

Application of MDF:

MDF Production Process

The production process of MDF mainly includes four stages: raw material processing, fiber preparation, forming and hot pressing, and post-treatment, all of which are fully automated and controlled

Now i will simple introduce some mainly production step for your reference

Raw materials preparation

Drying & Gluing 

Raw materials:

Wood (logs, twigs, recycled wood).

Non-wood fibers (bagasse, bamboo, etc., optional).

Key equipment:

Debarker: Removes bark (bark affects the quality of bonding).

Chipper: Cuts wood into wood chips of 20 to 30mm.

Screening and cleaning: Remove sand and metal impurities to ensure uniform wood chips

Fiber Preparation:

Softening by steaming and boiling

Steam (160-180°C) is introduced into the wood chips in a Digester to soften the lignin.

Thermal grinding separation

The softened wood chips are fed into a Refiner and mechanically ground into fibers

- The Original wood chips and fibers moisture is high, it is not suitable for glue step. So rotary dryer will drying their moisture to be very low

- During the drying process, resin glue (urea-formaldehyde glue/phenolic glue) and paraffin (waterproofing agent) are sprayed in.

Forming

Pre-press

The dried fibers are formed into uniform fiber mats through Air Forming machines or mechanical forming machines

The fiber felt is compressed to the initial thickness by the Pre-Press (reducing the hot pressing time).

Continuous press

Synchronous Cross-cutting saw

Continuous press will pressing the fomed MDF with a uninterrupted working way, achieve high working efficiency and production capacity, and keep the MDF quality better

It will automatic cutting the panel in required size

Edge trimming machine line

Sanding machine line

Automatic cutting the MDF to be final required size, make the edge be clean and tidiness

Calibrating MDF thickness to be high accuracy balance and make its surface smooth, improve the panel quality.
