Product Description

Wood Based Panel Belt Conveyor

Wood Based Panel Belt Conveyor

Artificial board production (such as particleboard, fiberboard, plywood, etc.) is a highly automated continuous process, where conveyors play the role of the "blood circulation system," and are absolutely crucial.

Overall Overview

In artificial board production, there is no single "universal" conveyor belt that can be used from start to finish. Due to the numerous production stages and the varying forms of materials being handled (from loose flakes/fibers, moist mats, to boards under high temperature and pressure), the type and characteristics of the conveyor must be selected and designed according to the needs of the specific production section.

Main Types of Conveyors by Production Stage and Their Characteristics

We can roughly divide the artificial board production process into three main stages: Raw Material Preparation, Forming and Pre-pressing, and Hot Pressing & Post-processing. The conveyors used in each stage are vastly different.

Wood Based Panel Belt Conveyor
Stage One: Raw Material Preparation Section
This stage deals with bulk materials like wood particles and fibers.

1.  Belt Conveyor
Use: Horizontal or low-incline transportation of dried particles, fibers, wood chips, etc.
       Conveyor Belt Characteristics:
Material: Usually rubber conveyor belts, possibly with a textured surface for anti-slip.
Structure: Open or enclosed to prevent dust escape.
Features: High transport capacity, long distances, the mainstay for raw material handling within the plant.

2.  Drag Chain Conveyor (Scraper Conveyor)
Use: Primarily used for transporting lighter particles and fibers, especially suitable for inclined lifting or metered discharge.
       Conveyor Belt Characteristics:
It is not a traditional "belt," but rather scrapers attached to chains that drag material forward within an enclosed trough.
Advantages: Excellent sealing, dust-proof, allows for multiple feed and discharge points.

3.  Screw Conveyor
Use: Short-distance, small-batch transportation of powdered materials (e.g., resins, additives) or fibers, often used below metering bins.
       Conveyor Belt Characteristics:
Essentially a rotating screw inside a tube that pushes material forward.
Advantages: Compact structure, excellent sealing, suitable for metered feeding.

4.  Pneumatic Conveying System
Use: Long-distance transport of dried fibers, e.g., from the dryer to the dry fiber storage bin.
       Conveyor Belt Characteristics:
This is not a physical belt, but uses air flow to transport material through pipes.
Advantages: High transport efficiency, long distance, can also provide a cooling effect.

Stage Two: Forming and Pre-pressing Section
This is the critical stage for forming the mat, requiring extremely high precision and stability from the conveyors.

1.  Forming Belt (Felt)
Use: Moves at a constant speed beneath the forming machine, catching the resinated particles or fibers falling from the forming head to form a loose, uniform-thickness mat. This is the foundation for mat formation.
       Conveyor Belt Characteristics:
Material: Typically made of high-strength, low-stretch polyester or nylon canvas, coated with rubber. Requires extremely high dimensional stability and fatigue resistance.
Surface: Very smooth and flat to ensure a flat bottom surface of the mat.
Speed: Speed must be precisely synchronized with the forming head to ensure consistent density across the entire mat.
Maintenance: Requires regular cleaning and tracking adjustment to prevent misalignment and material buildup.

2.  Pre-press Conveyor Belt / Steel Belt
Use: Transports the loose, fluffy mat into the pre-press for initial cold pressing, giving it initial strength for easier cutting and handling.
       Conveyor Belt Characteristics:
At the inlet and outlet of the pre-press, there are usually high-pressure resistant rubber conveyor belts or high-strength steel belts responsible for smoothly feeding and guiding the mat through the large press rollers.

Stage Three: Hot Pressing and Post-processing Section
This stage deals with the formed mat and the pressed board under harsh conditions.

1.  Hot Press Steel Belt
Use: This is the core component of a continuous flat press line. The mat is fed into the hot press between two massive, continuously circulating steel belts, where it cures under high temperature and pressure.
       Conveyor Belt Characteristics:
Material: Special alloy steel, possessing extremely high heat resistance (typically >200°C), creep resistance, surface hardness, and smoothness.
Structure: A very long (can be tens of meters), wide (can be over 3 meters), thin steel belt. It acts as both a conveyor and a heat transfer surface and pressure transmission medium.
Operation: Driven by high-power motors, maintained under tension and kept straight through a complex system of rollers and sliding rails.
Requirements: The surface must be free of any scratches or dents, as these would be imprinted on the finished board surface. Requires precise lubrication and cooling systems. This is one of the most technologically advanced and expensive "conveyor belts" in the entire production line.

2.  Caul Plate Return System
Use: In batch (opening) press production, the mat is placed on metal caul plates before being fed into the press. After pressing, the board and caul plate separate, and the empty caul plates need to be returned to the front of the forming line via a conveyor system for reuse.
       Conveyor Belt Characteristics:
Typically heavy-duty roller conveyors or chain conveyors, capable of withstanding the weight and impact of the metal plates.
The system includes elevators, turntables, cleaning brushes, etc., to ensure the caul plates are perfectly clean before reuse.

3.  Post-processing Section Conveyors
Use: Transporting the hot-pressed board through cooling, sawing, sanding, grading, packaging, etc.
       Conveyor Belt Characteristics:
Cooling Section: Often uses roller conveyors to allow good ventilation under the board.
Cross-Cutting & Trimming: Uses high-precision, high-rigidity chain conveyors or conveyors with positioning clamps to ensure accurate cutting dimensions.
Sander Infeed/Outfeed: Uses heavy-duty rubber belt conveyors or roller conveyors, requiring steady feed and the ability to withstand pressure from the sanding heads.
Stacking & Packaging: Uses roller, belt, or slat chain conveyors, coordinated with lift tables and manipulators for automated stacking.

The conveyor system in artificial board production is a complex and precise system, far more than just "a conveyor belt." From the flexible synthetic fiber forming belt to the incredibly durable alloy steel hot press belt, from scrapers handling bulk materials to precisely positioning rollers, each type of conveying equipment is tailored for its specific task. Together, they form a seamless logistics network that ensures the high efficiency, quality, and automated operation of modern artificial board production. It can be said that without these highly specialized conveyors, the large-scale, continuous artificial board production we see today would be impossible.
