Our Fast-Growing Timber OSB Production Line is a technologically advanced, highly automated system designed to manufacture high-performance Oriented Strand Board (OSB) from fast-growing species like pine, poplar, and fir. Utilizing core technologies such as precision strand cutting, layered oriented forming, and continuous hot pressing, it efficiently transforms small-diameter logs and thinnings into high-value-added panels with excellent mechanical properties, outstanding dimensional stability, and superior moisture resistance.

OSB production process

The process follows an efficient, continuous industrial design:

 Stage 1: Raw Material Processing: Logs are debarked (bark content <3%), cut to length for optimal stranding.

 Stage 2: Strand Preparation: Log sections are processed by a long-log strander into uniform strands (typical: L 80-150mm, W 15-30mm, T 0.3-0.7mm), the foundation for OSB strength.

 Stage 3: Drying & Screening: Strands are dried in a rotary drum or pneumatic dryer to 2%-6% moisture content. Subsequently, a grading screen precisely separates them into surface layer (finer/thinner) and core layer (longer/thicker) strands for separate storage.

 Stage 4: Blending & Glue Application: Surface and core strands are separately and uniformly coated with binders (e.g., PF, MUF, or eco-friendly MDI resin) and additives like wax in dedicated blenders.

 Stage 5: Oriented Forming & Pre-Pressing: This is the key to OSB structure. Glued strands are laid by an oriented former in a cross-oriented "surface-layer (longitudinal) - core-layer (transverse)  surface-layer (longitudinal)" mat structure. The formed mat is then lightly compacted by a pre-press for handling strength.

 Stage 6: Hot Pressing & Curing: The mat enters the core equipment—the continuous press—where it is consolidated under high temperature (180-220°C) and pressure (3-6MPa) to cure the resin and form a solid board.

 Stage 7: Finishing & Handling: Pressed boards are cooled, trimmed to size, optionally sanded, graded via quality inspection, and packaged for storage.
